The EAR Foundation of Texas is an affiliate chapter of The EAR Foundation in Nashville, TN, a national non-for-profit organization that provides services to persons who are deaf, have a hearing loss, or balance impairment. The overall function of our organization is to expand efforts to educate Texas communities about hearing and ear disorders, preservation of hearing, and options for the individual who has a hearing disorder. Our goal is to also provide a better understanding about the human balance system. In San Antonio, we have directed our efforts last year to provide a children’s program to elementary schools, designed to teach children about the ear and issues related to hearing preservation and ear health. It is our goal to increase the children’s programs in these communities, not only in English, but also in Spanish. We are evaluation a number of other disorders, which have associated balance problems, to determine the enhancement of balance performance with vestibular rehabilitation.
